Photography
Madelines work draws from two traditional photographic processes: film photography and cyanotype printing. Both are rooted in analog methods that require patience, experimentation, and an appreciation for imperfection.
Cyanotypes
Known for its deep blue color, this contact printing process involves coating paper a light sensitive solution. After placing objects or negatives on the surface, it gets exposed to UV light and rinse it with water. The result is a striking blue image. Each print is unique and influenced by the environment, timing, and materials used.
Film Photography
These photographs were made from old film from Madelines Childhood. These photographs had never been seen. Madeline enjoy the tactile nature of film: loading rolls, manually setting exposures, and the excitement of seeing developed negatives for the first time. Film brings a richness, texture, and depth that’s difficult to replicate digitally.
